Troiku Challenge #2 Morning Dew

Dear Haijin, visitors and travelers,

It's my pleasure to share a new Troiku challenge with you all. This time I have chosen another Troiku written by myself and the challenge is to write an all new troiku with the starting verse (the sleigh).

Here is the Troiku:

morning dew
vanished in a second as the sun rises -
life is short

morning dew
makes the spider web crystalline
nature's treasure

vanished in a second as the sun rises
the fragile hoarfrost on the branches -
ice skating

life is short
I see the thin grey hair of my parents
I become grey too

A nice Troiku I think. The challenbge is to write/create a Troiku using the the lines of the starting verse (the sleigh) which I will give here again:

morning dew
vanished in a second as the sun rises -
life is short

Well ... I am looking forward to your responses. You can respond until December 6th at noon (CET). Have fun!

Troiku Challenge #1 "The Old Pond" (Basho)

Dear Haijin, visitors and travelers,

I have another nice Troiku for you. It's based on that famous haiku by Matsuo Basho (1644-1694)

the old pond
frog jumps in
sound of water

© Basho

This very nice and unique haiku by Basho inspired me to write a Troiku which I love to share here with you all:

the old pond
frog jumps in
sound of water
the old pond -
the scent of the Lotus
overwhelms me
frog jumps in
the sound of rain far away
thunder and lightning

sound of water
dripping from the gutter
after the hurricane

It has become a nice Troiku I think, but maybe you can make a Troiku too with this same haiku by Basho. And that's the goal of this episode of Carpe Diem Troiku World ... create a Troiku from the haiku by Basho

the old pond
frog jumps in
sound of water

You can respond on this episode until October14 th at noon (CET). I am looking forward to your responses on this Troiku Challenge.

WELCOME

Dear Haijin, visitors and travelers,

Welcome at the youngest part of our Carpe Diem Haiku Family, Carpe Diem Troiku World. This new weblog will be specifically bring posts about Troiku. Troiku is a creative way of writing haiku which I, Chèvrefeuille, your host, have invented. It's a nice new way and very creative to learn to write poetry and play with the lay-out.

Maybe you have already visited my other weblog Carpe Diem Haiku Kai, than you have for sure read several troiku. I will give you an example:

seeking knowledge
getting deeper insight
hermit’s choice

seeking knowledge
contemplating under the Bodhi Tree
like Buddha
getting deeper insight
while listening to the silence
the sound of rain
hermit’s choice
seeking refuge high up in the mountains
closer to the gods
© Chèvrefeuille

In this above example of a Troiku you can see the "structure" of a Troiku as I have invented. The first haiku (bold and cursive):

seeking knowledge
getting deeper insight
hermit’s choice

This haiku is the starting verse of the Troiku and is called "the sleigh". As you maybe know (and can see on the above image) the Troiku is based on the idea of the Russian Troika, a sleigh with three horses. To create "the horses", you need to use every line of the starting haiku, to start a new haiku with. I have made that visual by writing the first lines of every haiku (horse) in bold and cursive.

I hear several of you think "but haiku has 5-7-5 syllables?" and yes that's true, but there are also ways to let go the 5-7-5 syllables, I call that "free-styling" with haiku and that's what you are doing when you write/compose/create a Troiku. It's just a fun way to let flow your inspiration and to be creative.

It's a wonderful new way of writing/composing/creating haiku and this new weblog will be a source for that new form.

Namaste,

Chèvrefeuille, your host
